Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Our good friends, Sandy and Mickey Cohen, came to visit us on the ship today. It was great to see them. We had not seen them since we had been in Northbrook for Thanksgiving. Our wonderful friend Vicki came and brought a few things she picked up at our house that we had forgotten. Isn’t that terrific of her? She does us all these great favors and then pays us to take these cruises from her. Is she worlds greatest travel agent or what?

There was supposed to be a special lunch in the main dinning room just for guests taking the full around the world cruise. Everyone else was supposed to have to go up to the buffet or the pool deck grill. Regent president Mark Conroy was supposed to have welcomed us or spoke or something.

We had asked the restaurant manager if we could bring our guests to this lunch. He said no. Only around the world guests could come. Later I asked one of the head waiters I knew, the same question. He said no one knows who anyone is. Just come in and sit down. So naturally there is no notice of this lunch, no Conroy, no nothing. We just walked in, sat down and had a nice lunch. Except Mickey. He is allergic to the crab appetizer they served. We then showed them all over the ship and then went to our room and talked. Finally Mickey could no longer bare to go on with his terrible hunger. So Bobbi took him and Sandy up to the pool grill and he got a BBQ hamburger. Poor starving thing. Just a growing boy.

It was taking too long to load all the luggage so the captain had to call for a delay in the departure time. We finally did leave around 7:00 PM.

We were a little late getting to dinner and they had given away our favorite table. So we asked for any table with our favorite waiter, Joey. The only thing left was a table for six. We took it and two other couples joined us. Some very nice people that we were glad to have met. One couple was from Largo, FL. near Tampa and the other couple was from Golden Beach, FL. We had a very nice dinner and, I believe, made some new friends.
