AT SEA EN ROUTE TO SHARM EL SHEIKH, EGYPT
At about 6:15 this evening we had a sun down cocktail party at the bow of the ship on decks 6 and 12. Deck 6 is usually a working deck and for crew only. There are a couple of spare propellers and you can look down to the decks below. That is an open area with a spare anchor and winches for pulling on the ship’s ropes.
The cocktail party was supposed to be a celebration of leaving the Arabian sea and entering the Red Sea. That does not really happen until about midnight.
As we were having a couple of drinks the captain came out on deck 6 where we were. He said hello and I talked to him for a bit and we were joking up and back. Then when he thought I was real happy about everything in the world I ambushed him. I said, “Oh, by the way, we missed you at the Passover Seder last night.” With that, I thought Bobbi was going to swallow the glass she was holding.
Those Norwegians can sure blush. This one got bright red. He said he never knew about it until this morning. Where was it? Yeah, right. I’m sure he doesn’t know. Do I look like someone who would buy a bridge from this guy? I told him it was at Signatures Restaurant. He says, That must have been why I wasn’t there. In the lounge next door, Mrs. Carol was having a memorial for her husband who died and I had to be there. There were just so many places I had to go. What a jerk. He had to walk right by Signatures to go to that lounge. I knew he had been there. I was just waiting for the phony excuse. He then says I should let him know when there is another one. I told him the second Passover Seder is in three weeks.
