AT SEA ENROUTE TO RICHARD’S BAY, SOUTH AFRICA

All day we have been cruising the far southern coast of Africa. Sometimes we have been closer to shore then I might dare with my own boat were I not familiar with the area.

The scenery ranges from mountains to sand dunes to small towns. At one point there was a 20 plus story building right on the beach. There was no town or anything else in sight. The entire coast has been lined with beautiful continuous beach. You could just sit and watch all day. Then at night the lights come on and you see the shore lit with various lights as you float along.

Our lecturer this morning was Garrick Utley, former chief correspondent for NBC News and ABC News and commentator for CNN. Very interesting speaker and he was taking all kinds of questions.

This evening we were invited to the financial officers table for dinner. He obviously paid for some outstanding and expensive wines. They were excellent as was the foie gras, the fresh oysters, the lobster and the Beef Wellington.

We were informed that four of our friends will be joining us for the 2008 cruise we are doing around South America and up the Amazon.
